![]() ![]() The Moonlight Crystal is NOT something to do with Sailor Moon (although it sounds like it!)! No, The Moonlight Crystal is in fact something much, much better.
And how can something be better than Sailor Moon, you ask? Well, lots of ways that I'm not going into here. TMC (short form for The Moonlight Crystal ) is an RPG that combines the graphics of a Super Nintendo Final Fantasy with the battle system of Dragon Warrior. So you could call it a demonic hybid, and I rather think it will live up to that description. Now, there are a few things I have to warn you about:
1. TMC is not going to be completed for a long, long time. But you will be able to download it as it comes along. However, I have no idea whatsoever if saved games will work on an updated version. And I know you won't want to slog through the game to get at a small amount of new and fascinating plot twists.
2. You need a large but wonderful program to run the game. BUT, the program, RPGMaker 2000, is free and will let you make your own RPG's like TMC! The program itself is not large, but what you need to run it is eleven megabytes, which, if you don't know, is BIG. Although it's well worth it, I can understand if you don't want to take that time to download. It took me about two hours, from 12:30 AM to 2:40 AM on a Friday night, and I have a 56K modem. But I can't state how well worth it that is! It gives you huge amounts of great monsters, tilesets, character sets AND character faces, and lots of really good music! The program is very easy to use and needs NO programming WHATSOEVER, and that is IMPORTANT! ALL you have to do is click. Easy as pie, and twice as fun! Honest! If I can learn how to do it, you can! The program and what you need to run it are located at the link at the top of the page.
3. I am aware that the game may very well be a really, really bad game. But at least give it a try. I know that the storyline isn't that original (no RPG really IS anymore...), but the script is, the characters are, and I know that the graphics are extremely unoriginal. Deal with it, alright? It looks okay and that's a good thing.
So, give my brainchild a try. I'll probably put a help page up here in a while, maybe a walkthrough.
There will also be space for player reactions...
Oh, yes! I'm giving the game a very open storyline, for one reason, and one reason only:
I'm hoping that eventually someone might be interested in writing aTMC fanfic or something...egotistical of me, I know, but I've seen fanfics spring up around the strangest games, like Diablo or Metal Gear Solid (Armored Core, even!), and I figure that my own game could have a chance. If you feel like doing a fic or poem, essay as to why you like a certain character, or whatever, then do so and mail it so me, where I'll read it and post it. So go ahead and think aboot it...
Oh, yes, for some reason my screenshots are a bit...wierd. Some of the colors are messed up graphics and aren't as detailed as they are in the game. I assure you, the graphics are very good! The only graphics that aren't messed in the screenshots are the character walk graphics...sorry! But they're good enough to show you the charas and things.
