Resins
Resins can be used to make magical ink and also in home-made incense. Some of them can be burnt by themselves, but others will need to be mixed with other substances. Not all of these will be available, but mastic (gum Arabic) is common.

Properties
Benzoin
A balance of masculine and feminine energies, sacred to both Mars *and* Venus. It's most commonly used during Ostara and Mabon (the spring and autumn equinoxes), when the world is in balance. It also aids focus and concentration.
Dragon's Blood
As suggested by its name, this resin is bright red in colour. It's most appropriate for meditations on death and rituals of dying, as well as for Samhain. You could use it for Imbolc incense, since the red represents the blood of life, and therefore, therefore, birth and beginnings. It was used to seal sacred manuscripts.
Frankincense
This is a very well known resin, belonging to the Sun and special to Apollo, Ra, Demeter and generally to sunshine and harvest deities. It's an offering of itself and so it great for incenses intended for rituals of connection with the Divine. It's good for cleansings, purification and dedication rituals. Frankincense is a great "all-rounder", and generally if you are stuck for a base resin, it'll come up to the task.
Gum Arabic (Mastic)
Another fabulously flexible resin. It's protective, purificational and excellent for consecrations. It helps dissolve negative energy.
Myrrh
A very well heard of resin, this, and has extensive uses too... all ritual meditation on the subject of death and rebirth are aided by burning myrrh. It helps one to deal with grief, and sorrow, especially after an experience of loss. It's associated with the Crone.
